With more than thousands of years of history, Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a minimally invasive treatment approach that looks at the root cause. We use techniques such as acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat both physical and psychological health problems.
A Different Approach:
TCM uses a different approach from Western Medicine. TCM focuses on your entire well-being which is primarily focused on treating disease by creating overall balance, well-being, and harmony throughout the body.
Two Central Concepts- Qi and Yin and Yang:
Qi is the vital life energy that runs through your body, and TCM treatments will focus on promoting and maintaining it. Qi can affect a person’s emotional, mental, and physical condition, causing imbalance and disease when blocked.
Yin and Yang are opposing energies in your body that attribute to Qi. Yin can be described as cold or night while Yang as warmth or day. It is crucial to achieve a balance between two energies, any one of them lacking can affect your overall well-being.
Is it Safe?
As TCM has been practiced for thousands of years, it is generally safe. It has been used extensively and widely recognized in Asia, with its popularity growing in many other countries. Even though our practices haven't been studied the same as Western medicine, more research is being conducted and the results are promising. For example, acupuncture is now much more commonly accepted as a treatment for a variety of conditions, especially chronic pain and PMS.
Today, many leading clinics such as Johns Hopkins, Mayo Clinic, and Cleveland are all offering TCM practices.
